Newtons for Life! by Amale Jopson [Newton Elite]
Coming from his strong 1st place finish at Century Tuna Ironman 70.3 in March 2016, three-time Ironman World Championship winner Craig “Crowie” Alexander sat side-by-side the Philippine Newton Ambassadors as they renewed their pledge of loyalty to Newton Running. A day prior to the Cobra Ironman 70.3 Asia Pacific Championships, these fierce Newton-committed athletes trust only Newton Running Shoes not only for the big event but for rest of their running and triathlon careers, just like Crowie who signed a lifetime contract with Newton in March2016.
Crowie has been part of the Newton family since the company’s debut in 2007. These high performance shoes have been an essential part of his training and racing toolkit and his key to his racing success. He claims that he can’t see himself running in anything else but Newtons. Philippine Newton ambassadors have also experienced success with brand, as the shoes are designed to encourage a natural and efficient running form. The responsive action-reaction technology literally propels runners toward better performance. This, together with the full-foot protection provided by the shoe architecture, and cool fashionable colors, has created such loyalty from runners and triathletes.
So with his favorite Newtons, The King of Kona, Craig Alexander, pulled off a fantastic 1:23 run split over 21 kilometers on the run leg of the Cobra Ironman 70.3 Asia Pacific Championships after cycling 90 kilometers in tough blustery conditions. Even under the heat, Crowie, at 43 years old, showed the world that he still has what it takes to podium at the 70.3 distance as he romped off with a strong 2nd place finish. The Philippine Newton Ambassadors like-wise produced strong performance and podium finishes in the age-group divisions, led by Chang Hitalia (1st place F50-54), Edward Luna (2nd place M45-49) and Ronald Molit (2nd place M30 -34). Speedy Kira Ellis also wore Newtons as she won the Ironkids F9-10 division the day before.
