Event Experience

A total of 2,500 triathletes gather from over 45 countries, including former world champions and rising stars of the sport. The event also boasts of the one biggest and most complete triathlon expo to date. 

Local celebrities, actors and actresses, local politicians are also avid supporters of this race, making it THE biggest and brightest race in Asia. 

Oh, by the way all the finisher medals and podium trophies are designed and hand made by World Class Cebuano designer Kenneth Cobonpue.

The Aguila IRONMAN 70.3 will start with a 1.9 kilometer swim in the beachfront of Shangri-LaMactan Resort and Spa. The 1.9km swim course will follow a clockwise direction. After finishing the point-to-point swim, participants will exit the Shangri-La boat ramp leading to the transition area.

TRANSITION:

From the swim exit at the boat ramp,participants will head to the transition area at the Mactan Newton. After quick change, participants will mount their bikes start their 90km bike leg.

Entry and Exit Flow

NEW BIKE COURSE as of JULY 24 2018: The three-loop anti-clockwise bike course will take participants around Lapu-Lapu City and Mandaue City. Participants will take a narrow road heading to the main part of the race course passing through The Mactan Newtown, turning right then turn left to Quezon National Highway and head to the  Mactan-Mandaue Bridge (Old Bridge). 

From the bridge participants will turn left to Plaridel street and head towards F.E. Zuellig Ave. and make the first turn around at KM 14 and head back to the old bridge.  From the bridge participants head straight to Basak Marigondon Road, exiting to Quezon National Highway, turning left heading to Mactan Newtown area completing the first loop at KM 30.  

Participants will begin the second loop heading to the old bridge and make a turn-around at F.E. Zuellig Ave at KM 43 and head back to Basak Marigondon road and left to Quezon National Highway to complete the second loop at KM 59.  

Participants will complete the final loop heading to the old bridge and turn around at F.E. Zuellig ave at KM 73 and head back to Basak Marigondon road and left heading to Quezon National Highway heading to the Mactan Newtown at KM 89.  Participants will turn right and head to transition area to end the bike course.  Athletes should ride on the right hand side of the road and overtake on the left.

The run course is a 2-loop course of generally flat terrain of mixed asphalt and concrete roads. 

From Shangri-LaMactan Resort and Spa participants will head to the narrow and flat roads of Punta Engano.They will be greeted with large crowds from the surrounding communities in the area. Hydration is critical since the area will be very hot and humid. Hydration stations will be spaced out evenly giving fluids and other needs of the participants. Turn aroundpoints will be on key Subdivisions/Villages, in Punta Engano after which they run back to the Shangri-LaMactan Resort and Spa parking lot for the well deserved finish line.
